We’ve had a good opening month up here at Apex Resort. The weeks have been full of early, powder-fueled suspense and excitement, and we’re looking forward to the upcoming Christmas and New Years events. With the recent arrival of powder (16 cm in the last 48 hrs alone) we’re so ready for the holidays!
Canada Cup Series
Most recently, our eyes were glued to the slopes as we cheered on skiers competing in the Toyo Canadian Selections mogul competition. We were thrilled to host these Olympic-bound athletes in the kick-off to the Canada Cup Series. Skiers dove down Kristi’s run which is a favorite among World Circuit coaches, largely due to its constant 26 degree pitch. Judged on their speed, air, and turns, the competitors who retain the highest point totals overall by the end of the season, will win a $5,000 education bursary and set of quality Toyo winter tires. It’s good to know that our reputation for challenging, and technically-excellent runs continue to attract top-tier athletes and events from around the world.
And, By the Way…
Christmas is almost here! The village is sparkling with lights, baubles, and snow, and we’re all getting into the festive spirit. We have lots of activities planned for the next two weeks. First is the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade, where Santa will snowmobile down Okanagan Run and personally deliver gifts to boys and girls under the Christmas tree. Make sure to get cozy by the bonfire and enjoy the festivities! If parents want their children to participate in this event, they are encouraged to drop off presents at the office before December 23.
New Years wouldn’t be the same without a spectacular fireworks display, so it’s only natural that we’ve decided to do two of them. The first will begin at 6 pm, where the whole family can participate, and later, we’ll be kicking off the New Year in style with a second display at 12 am. Both will be held at the bottom of the Okanagan Terrain Park — And we look forward to seeing you there! The Gunbarrel Saloon will be featuring live music during their own New Years Eve party, so make sure you grab your tickets to the party in time. If those events still don’t satisfy your craving for winter activities, spend your Christmas Break with us! The Apex Adventure Skating Loop, Apex Hockey Rink, and Tube Park are now OPEN. which means crazy fun for the whole family. All three activities are open at night, which means you can go for a romantic stroll, join a pick-up hockey game, have a slide or take a few light runs after your day on the mountain.
