The Boot Hill Fire, located 10 km’s northwest from the Apex Mountain Resort Village, is now out.
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire, located 10 km’s southeast of the Apex Mountain Resort Village, is now 100% contained. Approximately 40 firefighters are still working on extinguishing hot spots associated with this fire.
8 am Thursday, July 24th
There has been significant rainfall at Apex Mountain Resort and on both fires for the past 24 hrs.
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire, is now 100% contained and the evacuation alert has been lifted.
The ‘Boot Hill’ Fire is 100% contained and the fire is out.

7 am Wednesday, July 23rd
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire, located 10 km’s from Apex Mountain Resort to the southeast is 80% contained at 345 hectares.
The ‘Boot Hill’ Fire, located 10km’s northwest of Apex Mountain Resort, is now 100% contained at 101 hectares.
9 am Monday, July 21st
No significant change from yesterday.
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire is 60% contained at 345 hectares.
The ‘Boot Hill’ Fire is 50% contained at 100 hectares.
Crews are actively fighting both fires. Apex Mountain Resort is the headquarters for the firefighting crews.
7 am Sunday July 20th
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire, located 10 km’s southeast of Apex Mountain Resort, is now 60% contained and 345 hectares.
The ‘Boot Hill’ Fire, located 10 km’s northwest of Apex Mountain Resort, is now 50% contained and 100 hectares.
All roads are open at this time.
10 am Saturday, July 19th
It has just started raining in the Apex Mountain Resort village, let’s hope it continues!
The ‘Apex Mountain’ Fire remains at 313 hectares with 50% containment, with no significant change from yesterday. This morning 5 helicopters and roughly 40 ground crew were on scene.
The ‘Boot Hill’ Fire also has no significant change from yesterday at 138 hectares and 30% containment.
10 am Friday, July 18th
The ‘Boot Hill’ fire is an active fire that is located roughly 10 km’s northwest of Apex Mountain Resort. Initially this fire was very aggressive with a fire rating of 5 (out of 6) but has now been downgraded to a 2 or 3. The fire is now 30% contained with good progress of fire crew over the night. Crew are continuing to fight the fire today which is 138 hectares in size.
8 am Friday, July 18th
The ‘Apex Mountain Fire’ located 10 km’s away from Apex Mountain Resort at the corner of Green Mtn Rd and Apex Mtn Rd has grown to 315 hectares. The good news is that it is 50% contained. This morning at the 8 am briefing there were 40 + ground crew, two bulldozers and 4 helicopters.
I am meeting with fire information officers at 9:30 this morning to get an update on the ‘Boot Hill’ fire located roughly 10 km’s to the northwest of the resort. Originally this fire was rated a 5 (out of 6) but it has now been downgraded to a 2 or 3. I will update that fire after I receive more information.
All roads are open at this time.
7 am Thursday, July 17th
The fire that is burning to the northwest of Apex Mountain Resort, is roughly 8 to 10 km’s from the resort, in a straight line. It appears that the fire has slowed down as it has reached some cut blocks. There was an excavator and 2 bulldozers on scene cutting a fire block. The forestry service is sending a Class A ground crew to fight the fire today.
The fire at the Apex Guest Ranch, which is located at the corner of Green Mtn Rd and Apex Mtn Rd is still burning to the north and east of that location.
There has been an evacuation alert for the homes in the near vicinity of the corner of Apex Mtn Rd and Green Mtn Rd which is roughly 10 km’s from Apex Mountain Resort.
All roads are open at this time.
5 pm, Wednesday July 16th, update
A second fire is now active to the north and west of Apex Mountain Resort. The fire is located roughly 15 to 20 km’s to the northwest, near Nickel Plate Mine. The fire is roughly 20 hectares in size (not confirmed). Due to the remoteness of the fire it is thought that this fire was started by lightning during the last storm and has been smoldering until today.
The Green Mtn Rd / Apex Mtn Rd fire is slowly spreading to the east and north. Fire crews are active with ground crew and air support.
All roads are still open at this time.
7 am, Wednesday July 16th.
What has been labelled as ‘The Apex Mountain Fire’ by media is actually not at Apex Mountain Resort. There is a wildfire burning 10 km’s away from Apex Mountain Resort near the Apex Guest Ranch at the corner of Apex Mountain Rd and Green Mountain Rd. The fire started at the first switchback (on Apex Mountain Rd) above the Apex Guest Ranch and is burning east, towards Penticton, along Green Mountain Rd.
Both Green Mountain Rd and Apex Mountain Rd are open at this time.
