Apex Snow School FAQs
How do I book a lesson?
Send a detailed email to snowschool@apexresort.com including your preferred date and time of lesson (LESSONS MUST BE BOOKED 48 HOURS AHEAD OF TIME). Please include the lessons first and last name, age, skier or snowboarder ability level, your email, phone number, emergency contact phone number, any allergies or special accommodations the lesson might have/need, specify if rentals are needed.
Once I arrive at Apex Resort, where do I go for my lessons and rentals?
Both the Apex Snow School and the Apex Rental Shop are conveniently located together below the Mountain Shop and The Edge Bistro.
Is there any Childcare available at Apex this season?
No, we no longer offer Child Care at Apex Mountain Resort.
Why can’t I put my child under 5 into a lesson?
Children under 5 years of age require a great deal of physical assistance. Instructors have to hold, lift, pick up and push young kids; all of which are contrary to physical distancing guidelines. Children over the age of 5 must be able to stand up and move around independently. They must also be able to use the washroom independently. We realize that this will inconvenience some families but the health and safety of our staff and guest are a priority. We will not be making exceptions to this rule.
Why can’t I book my child a half or full day lesson?
We do not have the facilities to look after cold, tired, hungry kids. Lessons longer than those being offered for different ages would require us to be able to do all of those things.
What is the best clothing to wear?
It is important to remember that this is a winter sport. Please dress in layers. We suggest a base layer of a moisture-wicking material. COTTON IS THE WORST. Do not layer socks for warmth, instead, invest in a good pair of THIN wool socks. A warm, water-resistant or repellent layer is best for your outer layers. Jeans or sweats and hoodies DO NOT make for a fun day in the snow. Woolen gloves or mitts will get wet fast and your day will be short. Again, wear a water-resistant or repellant outer shell with a woolen liner. Keep your head warm. A toque (for all you out-of-country visitors, this is also known as a wool hat) is best. Helmets are strongly recommended and a thin wool cap and be worn underneath for extra warmth.
What else do I need to know?
Eye protection is important. Goggles are best for wintry conditions, but sunglasses can also work well on warm spring days.
Don’t forget the sunscreen! You can and will burn just as easily on the ski hill as you would on the beach. Remember to keep sunscreen in your jacket. If you leave it in your car it will freeze.
What equipment can I rent at Apex?
We rent skis, boots, boards, helmets and poles. We do not have winter clothing for rent. Clothing can be purchased, in the Apex Mountain Shop located conveniently above the rental shop. There, you can also find accessories such as gloves, toques (hats) socks, and goggles.
